Things to Do

This year, guests of the Central Coast Cotton Conference will get to once again enjoy the heart of the California Central Coast.  From Santa Maria to Cambria, there are many things to do, places to visit, great restaurants to enjoy and an abundance of outdoor activities and scenic drives. From lounging around the raised, heated pool and Jacuzzi at the Cliff’s Resort to enjoying great fishing and other outdoor activities, there's something for everyone.  Guests may enjoy these activities on their own, participate in pre-arranged conference activities, or arrange their own private tours or charters. The San Luis Obispo County Visitors and Convention Bureau will welcome guests to the conference and be on-hand to assist you with dining, transportation or activity arrangements.

Morro Rock

Cities and Sights of San Luis Obispo County

From Santa Maria to Cambria, San Luis Obispo County is home to bountiful beauty. There are scenic state parks, beautiful open farmland, pristine beaches, and ample wine tasting opportunities. Stretching along Highway One, guests can traverse the awe-inspiring California coast, take in Morro Bay and Morro Rock, visit the San Luis Obispo mission or Hearst Castle, or hop on one of the county’s many wine trails.

Cities

San Luis Obispo is the hub of the county.  It is the home to one of California’s Polytechnic Universities, the historic San Luis Obispo de Tolosa mission and the Madonna Inn.  The quaint downtown area is filled with tree-lined streets, a charming shopping district, historic buildings, shops and great restaurants and outdoor cafes.  Thursday nights the downtown streets are closed for the world-famous Farmer’s Market.

Balloons over Paso Robles

 

Paso Robles is in north San Luis Obispo County and now one of the state’s largest wine producing regions and top travel destinations.  Paso Robles – named and once known only for its grand stands of ancient oaks – is home to more than 170 wineries and 26,000 vineyard acres.  Its revitalized downtown area is built around a beautiful oak-studded park, which is lined by shops, boutiques, wine tasting rooms and restaurants.

Other cities in the area include:  Arroyo Grande, Atascadero, Morro Bay and Cambria. All of them have their own unique charm and many are home to beaches, golf, quaint boutiques, wineries and lots of shopping opportunities.

 

Beaches

Several state and county beaches await conference guests.  From Grover Beach in the south to Moonstone Beach to the north, a variety of beach-related activities are available.  From surfing and sun bathing to fishing and boating, San Luis Obispo county beaches have something for everyone.  Beaches include:  Grover Beach, Pismo Beach, Shell Beach, Avila Beach, Cayucos, Moonstone Beach and San Simeon.  Visit www.sanluisobispocounty.com for links and information.

 

Fishing/Boating/Outdoor Adventures

Ag Adventures of the Central Coast

The Central Coast Agritourism Council (CCAC) is a non-profit organization that assists farms and ranches in the central Coast area.  Its goal is to support farmers and ranchers market their products and services. Members include farm stores, farm stays, tastings, tours and other farming-related activities. Wine Tasting

San Luis Obispo County has two distinct wine regions: Paso Robles and Edna Valley. There are more than 170 wineries and tasting rooms where guests can sample award-winning wines and tour barrel rooms and state-of-the-art winemaking facilities.  There are also wine bars located in San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles.  Downtown Paso Robles now hosts eight tasting rooms and three wine bars.

Golf

Shopping

There’s great shopping in San Luis Obispo County.  There are quaint boutiques and galleries in the seaside towns of Arroyo Grande, Pismo and Avila Beaches and the downtown areas of San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles.  There are also many antique stores in Paso Robles.  Avid shoppers will want to visit the Pismo Beach Prime Outlets or the Madonna Shopping Plaza in San Luis Obispo.
